  • Scottsdale has a new Tinsel Trail for Scottsdazzle 2025—featuring holiday art painted by local artists on Old Town storefronts. Applications are accepted through Oct 15—merchants choose artists on Oct 27—and art is created from Nov 14—Nov 24, with the trail open from Nov 29—Dec 31.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers will release their new album Hell to Breakfast after fans waited more than eight years—while the band plans 160 shows in the U.S. and Mexico amid ongoing business plans.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Today the Harvest Supermoon will light the night sky over Scottsdale — NASA says it appears 14% larger and 30% brighter as it reaches its closest point to Earth. October also brings meteor showers and views of planets with more supermoons coming in November and December.  The Arizona Republic

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Hobbs signed at least 250 bills on Friday that include a law expanding animal cruelty protections—commonly known as Jerry’s Law—requiring prompt action against abuse, a mandate for digital identification to access adult content, a law to flag dyslexia in special education plans, and a law raising the tobacco purchase age to 21. These new laws are set to affect animal welfare, online safety, special education, and retail tobacco operations across Arizona.  Scottsdale Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • Theresa L. Costales, chief medical officer of AHCCCS, is practicing even though her Arizona license expired on Aug. 9 because it was not renewed in time, and lawmakers have questioned the oversight as the state changes care rules for over 1.9 million residents—Costales is now seeking an expedited renewal.  Scottsdale Independent

  • The Cardinals dropped to 2-3 after they lost 22-21 to the winless Titans on Oct. 5 — a game that saw an early 21-3 lead turn into costly mistakes. Their offense struggled in the second half — raising concerns about future game plans.  The Arizona Republic
