- ➤ Desert Mission United Methodist Church will host a Blessing of the Animals event at 9 a.m. Nov. 1 on its Scottsdale grounds at 7373 E. Dixileta Drive — community members can bring pets on leashes or in carriers for a brief blessing and short prayer, and families may also bring a collar, toy, or photo for those who have passed away. This event, based on a centuries-old Christian tradition inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, will offer a simple moment of gratitude for all living creatures. Scottsdale Independent
- ➤ Many free trunk-or-treat events will take place around Metro Phoenix this October—Scottsdale’s Paradise & Pacific Railroad event will offer a fun train ride and games for kids. - ➤ Scottsdale remained on budget for fiscal year 2024-25 as actual revenues and expenses were nearly equal to estimates, with general fund revenues reaching $454.5 million—about 3% above expectations and 1% below last year. Councilman Barry Graham said city staff needed to better predict annual revenues, and a full report will be presented to council in January. Scottsdale Independent
