  • Today—on World Homeless Day—Scottsdale-based Family Promise runs the only shelter model in the Valley that keeps entire families and their pets together while helping them find permanent housing in high eviction areas. The program shows strong results with 73% of families remaining housed two years after leaving the shelter.  Scottsdale Independent

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Electric vehicle maker Rivian plans to open a new repair shop at Mack Innovation Park in Scottsdale — land use attorneys will file a rezoning application in two to three weeks to create a high-tech center where customers can tune up their vehicles and order new ones.  ABC15 Arizona
  • Six Arizona hotels are named in Conde Nast Traveler’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards today as Fairmont Scottsdale Princess takes the top spot and Ranchos de los Caballeros is second—based on over 757,000 votes—while other winners include resorts in Sedona, Phoenix and Scottsdale.  The Arizona Republic
  • Amazon ended its Prime Invitee Program on October 1—scottsdale consumer Matt Nawrocki discovered the change when he could no longer access free shipping from a shared membership. The company now offers a limited-time discount for a full year of Prime if affected users sign up by December 31.  ABC15 Arizona

  • Scottsdale’s Museum of the West will hold a private viewing of the exhibit Mac Schweitzer: A Southwest Maverick Rediscovered on Oct 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 3830 N. Marshall Way—featuring cocktails, hors d’doeuvres, and insights from guest curator Ann Hedlund.  Scottsdale Independent

  • Arizona Financial Credit Union has announced the launch of the Arizona Financial Foundation— a 501(c)(3) nonprofit designed to strengthen local communities through financial literacy, first responder support, domestic violence awareness, and community engagement. HEALTH NEWS

  • HonorHealth Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center celebrated its 20th anniversary on Oct. 8 after serving North Scottsdale since opening in 2005. The hospital will expand its services by adding a patient care building with 56 beds, operating rooms and office space — a plan announced in a press release.  Scottsdale Independent
