COMMUNITY NEWS

  • CeCe’s Hope Center is hosting its annual Night of Light Gala today at 6 p.m.—hundreds of supporters will gather in a ballroom with music, candlelight, and stories to honor Michael and Cheryl Pollack as they receive the CeCe’s Hope Award. The event supports programs that offer safe housing, meals, mental health care, and job training for survivors of sexual exploitation aged 18 to 30.  Arizona Digital Free Press
  • Children’s Tumor Foundation will host the Shine a light Walk Arizona at Chaparral Park on Hayden Road to help end NF—a group of genetic conditions that can cause nerve tumors. Phoenix Children’s and School of Rock Scottsdale will support the event with live music and local sponsorship, and it runs from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Nov. 2.  Scottsdale Independent

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Scottsdale-based SJS Investment Services celebrated its 30th anniversary after being named #11 on CNBC’s 2025 Financial Advisor 100 list and recognized on the Forbes/SHOOK list of top investment advisory firms — the firm also launched its 30 for 30 initiative to donate to 30 children’s nonprofit organizations that have helped its clients — marking another milestone in its growth.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Eegee’s, a fast food chain (founded in Tucson in 1971) was named the best regional fast food restaurant by Lovefood.com based on online reviews and awards; the 25-store chain is known for its signature frozen treat.  The Arizona Republic

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arizona is pushing to update its federal permitting system that delays low-risk energy projects—reforms like a permit-by-rule process will speed up approvals while keeping environmental safeguards intact. Senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego plan to support these changes to meet growing power needs and boost job opportunities.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Arizona law prohibits private citizens from shooting down drones flying over their property since drones are classified as aircraft—border agents may intercept suspects under a new law. The FAA advises residents to report any dangerous drone activity to local authorities or call 480-284-4450.  The Arizona Republic

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Scottsdale-based Camelot Homes became 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan after owners Julie and Mark Hancock distributed stock certificates to employees during a meeting on October 24th—this move rewards their long-standing commitment to hard work.   • HomeSmart real estate brokerage will host its Agents Helping Agents charitable golf event at McCormick Ranch Golf Club (7505 E. McCormick Parkway) on Nov. 4. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., tee-off is at 12:30 p.m., and the event will conclude around 5 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting its charity arm, HomeSmart Helps, to support agents in need.  Scottsdale Independent
