- ➤ Golf legend Tom Lehman is set to chair the Driving Dream Golf Tournament to raise funds for Cortney’s Place (a nonprofit for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities). - ➤ Scottsdale Unified School District has announced plans to repurpose Echo Canyon School and Pima Elementary next year, leaving families and board members uneasy about losing a top-rated neighborhood school—community members can attend a public hearing on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. at Coronado High School to share their views. - ➤ Saguaro High School history teacher Ashley Crose will be inducted into the NAU College of Education Hall of Fame on November 7. Crose earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from NAU, created a Holocaust and genocide studies course at Saguaro in 2021, and was named Arizona History Teacher of the Year in 2024 for his lesson on Native American boarding schools. - ➤ The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is polling its 11,000 members on seven new name options to help preserve local languages—some options change the term to reflect sovereignty—and the council will delay any action until next year. - ➤ Arizona’s Medicaid program, known as AHCCCS, offers health coverage to eligible people based on income + residency and requires documents like proof of citizenship and income.
