  • The Arizona Republic is asking Scottsdale readers to send photos of family members who served in the U.S. Armed Forces to honor veterans on Nov. 11. CULTURE NEWS

  • Local music lovers can plan to join the free Messiah Sing-Along Concert on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. at North Scottsdale United Methodist Church — 11735 N. Scottsdale Road — as the Arizona Masterworks Chorale and Women’s Orchestra of Arizona perform Handel’s Messiah and invite the audience to sing along.  Scottsdale Independent

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Scottsdale Unified School District earned an A grade on the state report card with nearly two dozen schools receiving A's and Desert Mountain High School scoring 99.14 (out of 100) to top the high school rankings while Desert Canyon Elementary ranked second among K-8 schools. The district will hold a public meeting on November 13 (6 p.m.) at Coronado High to discuss potential repurposing of two schools.  Scottsdale Progress

HEALTH NEWS

  • Scottsdale Research Institute will soon start the nation’s first clinical trials testing whole psilocybin mushrooms to treat post-traumatic stress in firefighters, police officers and veterans. The state-funded study uses a 30-milligram dose in three chocolates to standardize treatment — its therapy dog helps soothe participants during sessions.  KJZZ

  • ResortPass is hosting Spa Week from Nov. 3-9 at over 20 resort spas in Phoenix and Scottsdale, offering day passes with discounted treatments and even a free glass of champagne.   • The Arizona State men’s basketball team will open its season today at 7 p.m. at Desert Financial Arena against Southern Utah as it looks to bounce back from two disappointing seasons.   • Jacoby Brissett led the Cardinals to a 27-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night by throwing two touchdown passes and running for a score—he started in place of injured Kyler Murray and ended a five-game losing streak.
