Good morning, Scottsdale. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 12th of November.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Scottsdale Water concluded its fall 2025 Citizen Water Academy yesterday—more than 30 residents spent five weeks learning about water supply, treatment processes, and infrastructure through interactive presentations and facility tours. The program gave attendees firsthand insight into the technology and teamwork that keep the water safe and reliable.  Arizona Digital Free Press

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Arizona Public Service announced last month it would propose a subscription model for data centers that will draw about 75% of its power from natural gas—while also using clean energy to meet rising demand as utilities move away from coal. Critics say that while this plan may lower carbon dioxide emissions, natural gas still produces methane—which traps heat far more strongly than CO2.  KJZZ
  • The Black Chamber of Arizona will host Members & Mavericks at Mavericks of Scottsdale—7237 E Main St on Friday, November 14, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., offering an exclusive networking opportunity for guests in Western wear.  Scottsdale Independent

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • SRP & CAP will connect their systems to let Salt River Project water flow through the Central Arizona Project canal system, giving cities more water security during shortages. The project will cost about $247 million, start its environmental review next year, and is set to finish by 2030.  KJZZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Research presented yesterday showed that older adults using SNAP had a 0.1% slower decline in brain function over 10 years—this slower drop may add up to an extra two to three years of cognitive health compared to those who did not enroll. The study analyzed data from over 2,000 adults—highlighting that many eligible Arizonans might benefit from the program.  KJZZ

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Independent Newsmedia has compiled a guide to help Valley residents find Christmas tree lots and responsibly harvest a real pine — offering options for those who prefer the scent of a fresh tree or the convenience of an artificial one — as holiday preparations begin across the state.  Scottsdale Independent
