- ➤ Mesquite Fresh Street Mex is partnering with The Foster Alliance to run its annual Toys for Tacos drive where customers who donate a new, unwrapped toy at any of its 10 Valley locations get one free taco from Nov. 1 through Dec. 18 (now in its fifth year) and support foster youth in Arizona and New Mexico (with over 18,000 toys collected last year). - ➤ Coffee Plantation, a longtime Valley favorite since the 1980s, will celebrate its grand reopening on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at 7366 E. Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale following a major renovation, and the updated café will offer live music, complimentary tastings, a new menu inspired by global flavors + a refreshed interior with oak beams and hanging plants. - ➤ Arizona indie rock band The Format will begin an acoustic mini tour in December that includes a show in Tucson on Dec. 15. The band will donate 5 dollars from every ticket sale for the Tucson show to The Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project as tickets go on sale on Nov. 14 with a required purchase code. - ➤ Scottsdale may face a water shortage if planned cuts reduce the Colorado River supply by 20 to 25 percent, which would force the city to tap its stored underground water. City officials say residents might soon see mandatory water restrictions — and the city will invest in new projects to secure a long-term supply. The Arizona Republic
