- ➤ Scottsdale Fashion Square will host a community blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross—set for Monday, Dec. 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.—at its south parking lot on 7014 E. Camelback Rd.; appointments are encouraged, and walk-ins are accepted. Scottsdale Independent
- ➤ Santa’s Workshop will be held at The Promenade Scottsdale’s Corporate Lawn on December 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. and will offer free photos with Santa—holiday crafts, train rides, live entertainment, cotton candy, and hot cocoa, ending with The Promenade’s First Snowfall that lets families see snow in the desert. - ➤ Since December 1, the Montevina neighborhood in Grayhawk has brightened its street with holiday lights and a hot cocoa hut open from 6 p.m. to about 9 p.m.—the event supports St. Mary’s Food Bank and last year raised over $18,500 with 4,100 pounds of food. Arizona Digital Free Press

- ➤ The Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce and Scottsdale Community College will host a free program on Dec. 10 at the Scottsdale Community College Indigenous Community Center—speakers from Scottsdale Community Partners, Scottsdale Community College and First Things First will present ways to help businesses support employees facing childcare, food and housing challenges. - ➤ The University of Arizona Scottsdale Center will host the Leaders in the Making mentoring event on Dec. 5 — bringing together over 120 students, young professionals and teachers — to help high school students learn about different careers. Young professionals will run small-group talks while selected Career and Technical Education students start a three-month mentoring project — with work to be shown at a State of Education event — that gives them a closer look at jobs in business, finance, law enforcement, hospitality and culinary arts. - ➤ Arizona faces major water cuts as the November 2025 Bureau of Reclamation study shows large reductions on the Colorado River will come after 2026 and a KTNV report found Lake Mead is about one-third full while Lake Powell is barely above one-quarter full. Because Arizona has junior water rights from the Central Arizona Project, state officials warn the region will be hit hardest when current river rules expire. Scottsdale Independent

- ➤ A new report from Delta Dental of Arizona shows that many Arizonans believe taking care of their teeth helps overall health—92% say it boosts confidence even as cost still stops regular visits.
