BUSINESS NEWS

  • Michelin-starred Din Tai Fung announced it will open a second Arizona restaurant at the former BJ's Brewhouse space in Chandler Fashion Center mall, with construction beginning January 2026 and the new location scheduled to open in 2027. Its first location at Scottsdale Fashion Square is set for 2026.  The Arizona Republic

CULTURE NEWS

  • Winter shoppers at Scottsdale Promenade see a 40-foot elf clinging to a 125-foot spire designed by Frank Lloyd Wright (a collaboration with The Lumistella Company), inviting visitors to snap photos and share in the festive spirit today. The installation adds a unique holiday touch to the center.  KTAR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Scottsdale Unified School District voted Tuesday night to close Pima Elementary and Echo Canyon School to address declining enrollment and a budget shortfall between $7.8 million and $9 million, affecting nearly 600 students. Community members questioned the process for not including more community input.  KJZZ
  • Arizona Broadway Theatre received $4,750 from Peoria North Rotary Club today to fund full scholarships for nine Valley children in its HyRev troupe and one for its upcoming Academy for Young Performers fall camp (boosting theatre education).  Arizona Digital Free Press
  • The Holiday Prelude, held Dec. 5 at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort and Spa, provided a vital boost to youth arts education by funding music, theatre, and fashion workshops—supporting local programs such as the Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestras and the Phoenix Theatre Company Guild—and reinforcing access for students.  Scottsdale Independent
