  • Duet: Partners in Health and Aging hired Dr. Melissa L. Boydston as its new executive director—bringing experience from Valley of the Sun United Way—to lead community programs.  Arizona Digital Free Press
  • Scottsdale residents are choosing e-bikes as Christmas gifts as sales surge at local stores. The Scottsdale Bike Company reports that about half of its bikes sold are electric and Landis Cyclery is selling many models that come with safety rules (as outlined by store managers).  Scottsdale Independent

  • Early this month, Hecho Libre opened at the rebranded Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas Paradise Valley at 7200 N. Scottsdale Road, serving Mexican cuisine inspired by Baja and the Sonoran Desert.  ABC15 Arizona

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Arizona America250 Commission, with the Flinn Foundation and Art State Arizona, invites artists to submit proposals on Arizona’s Five C’s (copper, cattle, cotton, citrus, climate) for America’s 250th anniversary; submissions close Monday, Jan. 5, with selections notified Jan. 12 and installations opening Feb. 3.  Scottsdale Independent
  • Sidewalk Surfer is a skate shop in Scottsdale that was named Arizona’s best skate store by the New York Times after nearly 50 years in business (the only shop dedicated to skate culture on the list). The store opened in 1977 and serves loyal, multi-generation customers.  The Arizona Republic
