COMMUNITY NEWS

CULTURE NEWS

  • Scottsdale Arts and Cattle Track Arts Compound are joining forces to launch a creative partnership that will boost art programs by managing key parts of the Cattle Track facility while keeping current studio artists and residents in place. The partnership includes ArtSpark—a career-development program offering a stipend, studio space, and courses for emerging artists—with plans for new gallery spaces and an event on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m.; applications close Sept. 15.  Scottsdale Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • HonorHealth became the first U.S. health care system to use the Spur Peripheral Retrievable Stent System to treat narrowed below-the-knee arteries by widening blockages with a balloon and offering temporary support without a permanent implant. Doctors Hasan Aldailami and Mitri Khoury performed the first procedure at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center in May — the treatment aims to improve blood flow and help patients avoid amputation.  Arizona Digital Free Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arizona State football is ranked No. 11 in the preseason AP poll for 2025 after last season’s Big 12 championship win, its highest rank since 1998, but some fans worry that high expectations may lead to a letdown given past mixed records. The team opens its season on Aug. 30 and one analyst warned that the tough schedule + national attention could add extra pressure.  The Arizona Republic
